Stem Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Clinics in Los Angeles, CA
The three Los Angeles practices listed here sit within a few miles of each other on or near Wilshire Boulevard. They are a physical medicine clinic whose site says outright that “Stem Cell and PRP procedures are not approved by the FDA,” and two Beverly Hills orthopedic surgeons. California adds a concrete check. A notice in specific wording is required for covered stem cell therapies that FDA has not approved, so you can look for those words before you sit down.

Joint Rehab and Sports Medical Center
Dr. Darrow is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist who, per the site, relies on physical examination over X-ray and MRI. A page on ankle arthritis here says the procedure “may help some patients” and that there should “always be a realistic expectation” of what stem cells can do. The site also says it does not provide IV treatments.

The Words on the Wall
Under California Business and Professions Code section 684, the notice reads: “THIS NOTICE MUST BE PROVIDED TO YOU UNDER CALIFORNIA LAW. This health care practitioner performs one or more stem cell therapies that have not been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration. You are encouraged to consult with your primary care provider prior to undergoing a stem cell therapy.” It must also be given to you in writing before your first therapy. A licensing board can fine up to $1,000 per violation after a first complaint. The section does not apply to treatment meeting specified federal criteria or to practitioners with an FDA investigational new drug approval, so ask which applies if you see no notice. The linked copy is dated 2019, so read California’s legislative site for changes. Check licenses with the Medical Board of California.
FDA and Published Evidence
FDA’s consumer notice says regenerative therapies have not been approved for any orthopedic condition, whether cells come from your body or a donor’s, and it lists amniotic fluid and Wharton’s jelly among unapproved products. Under its guidance, marrow stays outside the tissue rules only when minimally manipulated and used for its normal function, and PRP is treated as a blood product.
A phase 3 trial of 480 randomized knee patients (440 analyzed) found no cell preparation better than cortisone at one year. The American College of Rheumatology’s 2026 recommendations strongly recommend against PRP and stem cell injections in the knee and hip. Ask for a written estimate, since no practice here posts a fee on the pages read. Patients farther south can see the San Diego list.
Website details were read in November 2026 and can change; phone to confirm them. This page neither ranks nor recommends these practices, and it is not medical advice. FDA has received reports of blindness, tumors and infections from unapproved regenerative products.
