Stem Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Clinics in St. Louis, MO
St. Louis County’s options cluster in two places: Chesterfield in the west, with a sports medicine physician and a physical medicine physician, and south county, where a Mercy surgeon leads a cartilage repair program. The practical difference is whether you need a procedure-focused clinic or a surgical program that can compare injection with a cartilage operation. FDA clearance of equipment and FDA approval of a treatment are separate things, so keep them apart when you read any clinic’s site.

Dr. Bayes is board-certified and fellowship-trained in primary care sports medicine and focuses on non-surgical care. The site says stem cell therapy here “uses your own bone marrow and adipose-derived cells” in same-day procedures.

Patricia Hurford, MD
Dr. Hurford is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Her orthobiologics page teaches the terms a patient needs: orthobiologics include PRP, marrow concentrate, certain fat grafts and birth tissues, and each is “either autologous or allogeneic,” meaning from you or from someone else. That vocabulary is useful in any office.

Dr. Robert Duerr
Dr. Duerr’s site says he leads a cartilage repair program and lists Mercy-linked offices in south county. His knee orthobiologics page covers PRP, marrow concentrate, fat tissue and amniotic products. Choose this route if a cartilage defect might make surgery part of the conversation. FDA’s approved list includes MACI, a cartilage cell product implanted surgically, a very different thing from a stem cell injection.

Own, Donor and “Cleared”
FDA’s consumer notice lists stem cells from your own body or a donor’s, amniotic fluid and cord products among unapproved regenerative products, and says none has been approved for an orthopedic condition. FDA’s approved products list, updated October 30, 2026, is where approval actually appears. A device’s clearance is separate. Under FDA’s guidance, cells isolated from fat generally go beyond minimal manipulation, and PRP is treated as a blood product.
Two Guidelines That Disagree on PRP
A Nature Medicine trial that randomized 480 knee patients (440 analyzed) found no advantage for marrow, fat or cord tissue cells over cortisone at one year. The American College of Rheumatology’s 2026 recommendations strongly recommend against both PRP and stem cell injections in the knee and hip. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ 2021 guideline rates PRP “Limited.” These do not settle every tendon question.
Missouri Checks
The Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts licenses physicians. A training company’s September 2026 summary did not find a Missouri law requiring a patient notice or consent form for these products; treat that as one company’s search and ask the board if it matters. Patients on the western side of the state can see the Kansas City metro list. Ask for written prices, because none of these three posts one on the pages read.
What’s here comes from each clinic’s own website, read in November 2026; confirm by calling. It is not a ranking, and it is not a recommendation or medical advice. FDA has received reports of blindness, tumors and infections from unapproved regenerative products.
